Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Palo Cortado, Oloroso, Cream, East India, Pedro Ximénez, Moscatel- the styles and varieties of Sherry, the celebrated fortified wine from Jerez, Spain, provide an endless palette of flavors and nuances, such as dryness, acidity, depth and richness to mixed drinks, punches and cocktails. Once a pre-Prohibition barkeep's staple, its renaissance has reintroduced beverage professionals to not only its standalone identity as a versatile table wine, but as an essential ingredient in any bartender's repertoire.
Please join Emilio Lustau Brand Ambassador Araceli Gascón Varo, to taste a full lineup of Lustau Sherries, to introduce the different styles and bottlings of one of Spain's most celebrated Sherry houses, as well as learn the basics of Sherry production. From the Solera system to the mysterious and essential existence of Flor, to the terroir of the Bodega, attendees will learn- and taste- why this is a fortified wine unlike any other. Guests will have a chance to taste classic cocktails such as the: Sherry Cobbler, Adonis and Bamboo and modern-day creations ("new classics") such as the East India Negroni, Alimony and Rye Witch crafted by cocktail luminaries from around the country.
In addition there will be an opportunity to learn about another unique Spanish spirit from the iconic producers of Lustau: Caballero, a brandy-based liqueur crafted from a 185 year-old Spanish family recipe & legacy. Made from all-natural ingredients such as oranges from Andalucia, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, from Caballero USA National Brand Director, Elan Klebanow.
